Creating Your Store

How to set up your store on Marketcroft for the first time — from your store name and address to going live on the map.

  1. 1

What you'll need before you start

Before you create your store, make sure you're already signed in to the Marketcroft app. If you haven't done that yet, start with the Signing In guide. You'll also want your store's street address handy — the same address a customer would type into Maps to find you.

  2. 2

    Find the 'My Stuff' tab

Look at the very bottom of your screen. You'll see a row of small icons. Find the one that says 'My Stuff' and tap it (press it once with your finger). My Stuff is your private area — it's where you manage your store, see orders, and take care of everything on the merchant side. You won't see anything there yet, but that's about to change.

  3. 3

    Tap 'Create a Store'

On the My Stuff screen, look for a button that says 'Create a Store' or a '+' sign (a plus sign). Tap it once. If you don't see it right away, try sliding your finger upward on the screen to scroll — the button might be a little lower down. This opens the store creation screen.

  4. 4

    Type in your store name

You'll see a box labeled 'Store Name.' Tap inside that box — your phone's keyboard will pop up from the bottom. Type your store's name exactly as you want customers to see it, including capital letters. Take your time. If you make a spelling mistake, tap the backspace key (it looks like an arrow with an X) to erase and retype.

  5. 5

    Pick your store type

Below the name, you'll see a list of store types — things like 'Gift Shop,' 'Clothing,' 'Bakery,' 'Art Gallery,' and so on. Scroll through the list by sliding your finger up on the screen. When you see the type that best describes your store, tap it to select it. This helps customers find you when they're searching by category. If nothing fits perfectly, pick the closest one.

  6. 6

    Enter your store address

Tap the address field and start typing your street address — for example, '123 Main St.' As you type, a list of address suggestions will appear below. When you see your correct address in that list, tap it to select it. Always select your address from the suggestions rather than typing the whole thing yourself — this is what places your store pin in the right spot on the map. If your address doesn't appear in the list, try typing just the street number and street name first.

  7. 7

    Save your store

Once you've filled in your store name, type, and address, look for a button that says 'Save,' 'Next,' or 'Done' and tap it. Your store is now live — customers can find it on the map. It will look pretty bare right now, which is normal. Your next step is to add photos, a description, and your hours. See the Customizing Your Store guide when you're ready.
